Church Mission and Theology in 20th Century China

簡介（Introduction）

二十世紀，中國處於內憂外患，動盪不安的境況。基督教宣教面對接二連三的困難和挑戰，中國教會曾作出不少信仰的反思。本課程根據1900- 1949年間的歷史，概論不同時期中國社會的變遷，分析教會如何承擔護教和傳道的使命，如何發揮信徒群體的角色；藉此，引領學員認識中國教會宣教事工的變遷，神學思想的發展。此際，基督徒知識份子非常強調基督教對時代與社會的意義。在此急劇轉變的時期，如何建立中華本色化，並切入新思潮的處境化神學，是非常有價值的探討。

自一九四九年後，中國教會信徒分散各地，但無論在海外或國內，縱然發展出不同的神學思想的形式與側重點，均植根於二十世紀前半世紀所孕育的神學思想。新中國成立以後，中國共產主義與基督教有著密切的關係，當中有革新運動，三自愛國委員會開始成立，也帶給教會不少的衝擊，值得吾人關注。對此過百年來宣教的挑戰與神學有所認識，有助今日中國人了解中國信基督教的信仰根源，學習怎樣作個有使命和承擔的中國基督徒或國民，並得著智慧探索明日教會宣教的前路。本課程適合所有關心基督教宣教與神學，及著重現代中國教會發展的人士修讀。

課程大要（Outline）

第一章：導論   二十世紀傳教與神學的背景

第二章：時局救亡運動與基督教（1900- 1918）

        （國家富強論、教會自立運動、復興佈道運動、百年傳教大會）

第三章：五四運動與基督教（1915- 1923）

                   （反宗教思潮、時代新宗教、基督教新教義、基督教與人格救國）

第四章：非基督教運動與基督教（1922- 1927）

    （重人格的耶穌基督、基督教與科學、民族主義與基督教、 社會主義與基督教、本色化運動）

第五章：國難與基督教（1928- 1937）

（國難神學、農村重建運動與新舊宣教神學、復興運動與復興神學耶穌與國運、天國與中國）

 第六章：抗戰內戰與基督教（1937- 1949）

（苦難神學、從本色化到普世化、合一與合作的宣教路線、四個中心的教會模式、和平運動、奮進運動、民主運動）

 第七章：中國共產主義與基督教（1949-）

（唯物論、真理調和論、耶共觀、基督教革新運動、愛國愛教論等）

結論—  二十世紀宣教事工的評估，發展，與神學思潮對今日教會的啟迪

簡介（Introduction）

Dear BD and MDiv,

(A) In connection with term-time credit-earning fieldwork education
(2010-2011),

1. for those who have verbally informed me about your intention to do
credit-earning fieldwork starting from this term and have actually arranged to
start your fieldwork in Sept.: you must, if you didn’t, asap submit a fieldwork
application form to me via email;
2. If you have not in anyway informed me about your intention, it is now,
according to the regulations, too late to apply for credit-earning fieldwork.
So, if you will do fieldwork in this term, your fieldwork will only be
non-credit-earning. This, of course, will not adversely affect your practical
learning. However, you must ensure that your supervisor knows that it is a
non-credit-earning fieldwork placement.
3. For those who will be doing your credit-earning fieldwork  in this term, you
need to come back for several sessions for integrative seminar discussion (pls
see fieldwork handbook). We shall make the detailed arrangements righ after the
add-drop period. I shall keep your informed about this via email.

Dear SU members and new students,

Welcome to the new academic year! The retreat was over and we enjoyed valuable
and fruitful days. There will be various news in the beginning of the academic
year.

1.The TATJ test for new students will be held at 9:30am on 6thSept,10, in
Chapel
in the 4/F of Theology Building. After the test there will be CUHK tour held by
SU of DSCCC. All new students will be gathered in the common area , G/F of the
Theology Building. All students, especially fellows from mainland, are welcomed
to the CUHK tour, to introduce our campus to our new fellows.

2.helpers are needed in a)the service on 9/9; b)the pastoral conference on
14-15/9. Please reply this e-mail to register.

4.reminder for students who will take the course THEO 2221 Church History I,
please note
the study book : Gonzalez, Justo L.: The Story of Christianity. Volume 1. The

buy this book – ideally together with volume 2 which will be needed for the
following church history courses.

6.Here is a good news from Sumyi HO (BD 09′) Sunny CHIU (MACS 07′)

Dear teachers and classmates,

With God’s grace, our sons Micah and Moses were born on this year’s Pentacost
(23 May). The twin brothers were delivered by Caesarian.  As the boys were born
prematurely at 29 gestational weeks, they were required to stay in Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Queen Mary Hospital for more than 1 month. The
brothers are 3 months old now and have returned home.  Thank God that they are
both very healthy. Elder Micah weighs 9 Lbs, while younger Moses 7.5 Lbs.  We
take this opportunity to express our gratitude for your prayer, blessings and
being with us!

7.Here is a news from the prison visit team:

Dear All students,

Apart from studying at DSCCC, we do visit prisons every month which lead by
Tobias and staffs from Hong Kong Christian Kun Sun Association. The purpose to
form this visit team is not only to provide care and love to inmates but also
let us to have a fellowship during services.
The first visit date is 24 Sept (Fri), we do hope students participate in this:

Venue: Shek Pik Prison
